
The The Lighthouse for the Blind (ETLB) Scholarship Program is a special program established by the ETLB Board of Directors in 2009. The program is funded by Horizon Industries, the manufacturing division of the The Lighthouse for the Blind which employs people who are blind or severely visually impaired.
The purpose of the scholarship program is to provide scholarship assistance to eligible blind persons and their dependents as defined by the Internal Revenue Service who are residents of the 46 counties of East Texas enrolled or seeking enrollment in regionally accredited post -secondary institutions.
The ETLB scholarship program may cover the cost of tuition, books and mileage. Funds may be used for attendance at a fully regionally-accredited institution of higher education, or to any professionally-accredited, post-secondary vocational training program. TSI-status for technical/ vocational programs is determined by the admission standards of the particular institution. Scores from THEA or a state recognized qualifying examination may be submitted.
